For ease in birthing and overall structural strength we select Jennets with wonderful deep hind quarters whose bone structure conforms to The Great Hind Quarter Triangle! They must have four straight set legs and a perfect tooth on tooth bite. They have fresh air and exercise with 24-7 access to open pastures. Plentiful fresh water, vitamins & minerals, oats and beet pulp when needed.
Strong ..... healthy breeding stock ..... a solid foundation of proven but diverse bloodlines.
Ravenwood Prissy
32.0” True Black
Prissy's Pedigree, Progeny & MorePrissy is a gorgeous blue-based black Jennet. Her stripe is never evident. Although much of her pedigree was never recorded, she has proven her place in our breeding program by producing dark, stocky, structurally sound foals. She contributes fresh blood lines to our stock. Prissy won her first Blue Ribbon as a yearling!
2007 – Prissy has been bred to Short ASSets Cowboy for a Nov, Dec 2008 foal.
Summer Shade Little Egypt
31.0” Black
Egypt's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreEgypt is a small, square jennet. She has short, proportional back-length. Her Sire; Gladybrook’s Skip has produced many jennets that have been retained in some of the nicest and most successful miniature donkey breeding programs. When we saw her run and noticed the length of her stride and straight gait, we knew we had an exceptional girl!
2008 – Egypt will be bred for the first time to Hills Haven Turbo, a 32.0” Black Jack w/ light points. Turbo is a herdsire at Big River Miniature Donkeys.
Ravenwood Satin
32.0” True Black NLP
Satin's Pedigree & ProgenyWe had our eye on Satin from the day she was born. We wanted another true black Jennet but we didn’t want to sacrifice conformation or ‘sell the farm’ to buy one. Satin has blacks and dark browns in her pedigree. She has that fabulous PMF and E.A. rear-end. She also has a 4 generation pedigree !
2008 – Satin will be 4 years old and will be bred for the first time to Hill’s Haven Turbo, a Black no cross with light points jack.
MGF Venus Ursula 30
31.5” Dark Sorrel
Ursula's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreThis is the picture I shot of Ursula at McRobert's Game Farm. She has a beautiful head and expressive eyes. Her coloring is very rich with sorrel highlights. Her rear left leg was injured years ago. We felt her beauty made her a must for breeding and our protected fields would put her more at ease with her leg. Ursula is a Fireman daughter.
2007 – Ursula has been pasture exposed to MGF's Dr. Zhivago we are hoping for an outrageously colorful foal in 2008!
MGF Scarlett Aurora
31.0” Sorrel
Aurora's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreIn 2007 we finally made our first visit to McRobert’s Game Farm. I had been looking forward to this trip like no other and I was not disappointed! Not only did we have a wonderful time but we found a few ‘treasures’ to bring home. Aurora had a ton of hair at the time and was such a little red fireball! Having already selected MGF TJ, we felt Aurora would be perfect for him.
2009 or 2010 – Aurora will not be bred until she is 3 or 4 years of age.
PWF April
31.5” Tri-Spot
April's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreWe had wanted to add a spotted Jennet to our breeding stock for years. We just couldn't find one whose overall structure said Brood Jennet to us. In 2006 we met April. April’s feet and rear are so correct that they draw attention to her in the field. She has wonderful breadth between her legs. She has matured into a small beauty.
2008 – April will be bred for the first time to Hills Haven Turbo.
758’s Star Bright
33.0” Sorrel w/Star
Star's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreWe had seen and admired several 758 Brood Jennets at various Breeding Farms and decided to add a 758 jennet to our bloodlines. I contacted Ida Bess in 2003. Mid 2004 Ida sent a picture. She had picked out a foal for us. We took a trip to Texas. Not only was Star the brightest sorrel we had ever seen but she was maybe the friendliest and very correct.
2007 – Star has been bred to Circle C Corona. We expect Star’s first foal in late March or April 2008.
Ravenwood Sage
33.0” Dark Sorrel
Sage's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreSage's conformation and color is flawless. We didn't know it at the time but we had just seen our first PMF Charlie Bandito rear end. Sage matured into a strong, healthy Jennet. She is the smartest donkey we have ever owned and is the dominant force in our herd. New donkeys follow her every move!
2007 – Sage was bred to Circle C Corona. We are expecting Sage’s first foal in late March to April 2008..
Arrow Creek Bunny
32.0” Gray Dun MSF
Bunny's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreBunny came to us from Short & Sweet Ranch in Texas. She is quite a striking girl. While she is gray-dun, it is a very dark, thick gray. Unusual. That is the best way to describe Bunny. She is small except for her exceptional rear-end and Whiter than White Blaze. We felt she would match wonderfully with Cowboy. We were absolutely right !
2007 – After a year’s rest Bunny is back in with Cowboy for a June
2008 foal.
Highland Meadows CeeCee
31.0” Dark Brown
CeeCee's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreCeeCee and Little Egypt share the same genetic gene pool through their Sires. We select our breeding stock based on their teeth, energy and structure. We have a jack in mind when we go shopping. We had Cowboy in mind when we purchased CeeCee. She is short coupled but beautifully stocky and balanced. She is very intelligent and sweet with a wonderful nothing bothers me attitude.
2007 – CeeCee has been bred for the first time to Short ASSets Cowboy for a a June 2008 foal.
Ravenwood Scarlett
32.5” Black Cherry
Scarlett's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreScarlett won Model Donkey as a yearling! Her dam, Prissy won 1st place as a yearling. We picked up on the trend. Scarlett's coloring is best described as Black Cherry. She is such a rich deep color; not black, not sorrel not brown. So, for this little girl we devised our own color; Black Cherry.
2007 – Scarlett has been bred for the first time to Short ASSets Cowboy. We anticipate a late June 2008 foal.
MGF Venus Daphnia 35
32.0” Dark Brown w/sorrel highlights
Daphia's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreDaphnia is a Valintino 50th daughter. We had seen his progeny at Cyder Bay in Wisconsin and at the Elms in Ohio. I actually picked Daphnia out of the field myself because I was facing her rear end and legs and liked them. When Jerry looked her up and said she was a 50th daughter, we felt as if we had our cake and could eat it too! I would like to try Daphnia with both Cowboy and TJ - I think we will get very different results!
2007 – Daphnia was pasture exposed to MGF Absolut a 30” Black Spot!
Someday’s Sierra
31.0” Brown
Sierra's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreSierra was shipped to us quite by mistake. When Sierra started putting weight on, we put her on a diet until I came out and found the world’s smallest little jack running circles around her! Sierra is petit and stocky. She has been a brood jennet for Lonesome Dove Ranch and Designer Donkeys. She brings all new bloodlines to our midst.
2008 – Sierra will be pasture exposed to our Short ASSets Cowboy for a late Spring 2009 foal.
Big River CoCo
34.00” Gray Dun
CoCo's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreCoCo has no recorded pedigree. She is tall at 34.0". She is gray-dun. 3 strikes against her. But boy did she move. Fluid motion. We brought her home and bred her to Cowboy and they had the most gorgeous dark grulla NLP jennet foal.
2007 - After a year's rest, CoCo has been bred back to Cowboy for a Nov 2008 foal.
Ozark’s Kelli
32.0” Brown/Sorrel
Kelli's Pedigree, Progeny & MoreWhen we visited Short ASSets farm, Brenda was not interested in selling Kelli. I tried believe me. Several years later Brenda called and offered her to us. Drat, we couldn't get away and were poorer than church mice! So I called a friend, Ann Arens from La Bahia Trail. She looked at Kelli and brought her home. A few years later Ann retired from donkeys and offered us Kelli. Thank you so much Ann
2007 - Kelli has been bred to La Bahia Trail's award winning herd sire Levi. We expect a November 2008 foal.
